Atletico Madrid skipper Gabi has rejected former Barcelona Xavi Hernandez’s advances. Xavi wanted the talented defender in his team in Qatar as he takes over as the coach of Al-Sadd.
After having spent 18 years performing for Barcelona and lifting just about every trophy at club level there is to win, Xavi Hernandez would later go on to join the Qatari outfit Al Sadd.
It was thanks to the combination of: Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez that Barcelona became one of the most dominant teams in Europe.
Even though Xavi is no longer a player of Barcelona, the experienced player is still up to date with everything that goes on involving his former team and there are rumors going on claiming that he could make a return to Camp Nou maybe as a coach or become part of the staff team as his time as an actual player is almost up.
The summer transfer window of 2017 recently shut down and Xavi Hernandez believes that Barcelona could have done a much better job as the experienced midfielder gave his thoughts concerning the summer transfer activities of his former club. Xavi doesn’t think that someone who turned his back on Barcelona during his teenage and joined some other club should be allowed to make his way back into the set-up of the Spanish giants ever again.
Bellerin has since then gone on to feature for the senior team of the Gunners as well and in the last couple of seasons, he has been one of the most promising young defenders in the English Premiership which has probably prompted Barcelona to try and add him back to their ranks. At the age of 37, the playing career of Xavi Hernandez is reaching it’s final stages but the Spanish midfielder who is currently performing for the Qatari based club Al Sadd has stated that he wants to do a number of things to continue being involved and helping the world of football even if its no longer as an actual player.
The experienced player is also earning his coaching badges as Xavi Hernandez is not showing any signs of slowing down even if his contributions might not be in the actual pitch in itself, the Spanish midfielder does want to remain relevant and influential in football at least in some one way or another.
“I’m not just in Qatar to play football. I want to be a coach.My objective is to work and help Qatar in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. I want to go far. Of course, it’s an option. It’s an option which I would like. It’s an objective to help them have a good World Cup in 2022, and then in my mind I have it to come back to Barcelona. Former Spanish football Alfonso Perez has asked Barcelona defender Gerard Pique to quit international football in the shirt of Spain due to his political beliefs, according to reports.
Perez compared Pique’s action to that of former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola who played friendly games for Catalonia during his playing career without renouncing the Spanish national team.
“It would have been most honest if Guardiola, being such a Catalan, would have renounced the Spanish national team. I am not against the Catalans. My son was born in Barcelona and if I was radical he would have been born in Madrid or Seville. I have nothing against Catalans, but I do against those pushing for independence,” Perez said. Xavi Hernandez, FC Barcelona legend has said that he believes that if allowed to participate in competitions held by the FIFA, the current Catalonian International football team would be one of the top 10 teams in the world.
So far, Xavi has represented Catalonia 12 times throughout his playing career. However, the 36-year old did not rule out the possibility of managing the team in the nearest future.
“You never know. You can never close any door. It’s very early to start making predictions but it’s one of the ideas, coming home to coach in Barcelona, in Catalonia. It’s my home and I feel very comfortable there.

Xavi Hernandez says that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho should try to avoid confrontation when things are not going well for him.
It is widely expected that Mourinho may face a lengthy touchline ban as a result of his recent incidents.
